Soli Deo Gloria.
Glory to God alone. Once, this would not have been an earth shattering ideal, but rather a way of life. For thousands of years, first Jews, then Christians, adopted this lifestyle, choosing to elevate their lives above the average, the worldly, making them worth glory, and yet a glory directed to God alone.
But, now it is a stange thought, ‘Why would I sacrifice so much, if in the end, the glory isn’t even my own?’, it is seeming lunacy to assume that anyone, let alone a teenager, would want to push themselves past the memories of comfort, and pull beyond this generation, for the Glory of One yet beyond themselves. Seemingly impossible.
Or is it?
I am lightyears from being the perfect teen, model student, or that one kid who somehow has everything together. Usually, in fact, I find myself pulling back, gravitating towards my fully human roots, caught in an all out war between my flesh and spirit. But, through all of this, I know that God was willing to give everything for me, and that, in reality, Glory truly does only belong to Him.
SOLI DEOS GLORIA.
